Det byggdes av sten fr\u00e5n Gibralfaro-kullen och skulle idag ha kostat 3.300.000 euro. Fyrtornet invigdes s\u00f6ndagen 30 maj 1817 p\u00e5 San Fernando- dagen som en hyllning till kung Fernando VII.<\/p>\n<p>Fyrtornet i M\u00e1laga med det feminina namnet La Farola \u00e4r ett av stadens mest k\u00e4nda landm\u00e4rken. 1863 byggdes ytterligare ett fyrtorn i Spanien med ett feminint namn, Farola del Mar, p\u00e5 Teneriffa.<\/p>\n<p>Ingenj\u00f6ren Joaqu\u00edn Mar\u00eda Pery stod bakom arbetet. Han avled 1834 och fick inte se forts\u00e4ttningen av arbetet d\u00e5 fyrtornet 1851 ut\u00f6kades med en bostad s\u00e5 att fyrvaktaren kunde leva mer bekv\u00e4mt. 1915 byggdes ytterligare en v\u00e5ning.<\/p>\n<p>I M\u00e1lagaprovinsen finns det sex fyrar som lever ett liv i skymundan. Enbart tv\u00e5 fyrar \u00e4r ig\u00e5ng under programmet Sistemas de Ayuda a la Navegaci\u00f3n. <\/p>\n<p>N\u00e5gra ytterligare fyrtorn med m\u00e5nga \u00e5r p\u00e5 nacken \u00e4r den i Torre del Mar som byggdes 1861 och \u00e4r 29 meter h\u00f6g.
