Birgit och maken Olle flyttade till Solkusten 1989. D\u00e5 hade paret bes\u00f6kt Spanien sedan 1960. Vi \u00e4r m\u00e5nga som s\u00f6rjer Birgit Lilja. Hon kom att bli mycket uppskattad i svenskkolonin. Hon var gener\u00f6s, hade ett stort hj\u00e4rta och hj\u00e4lpte otaliga m\u00e4nniskor.<\/p>\n<p>Birgit Lilja var utbildad undersk\u00f6terska och \u00e4ven inom psykv\u00e5rd. Hon arbetade som undersk\u00f6terska och mentalsk\u00f6terska i Sverige. Under \u00e5ren i Fuengirola var hon aktiv  i det ekumeniska centret Lux Mundi d\u00e4r hon medverkade till att det startades en nordisk grupp av Anonyma Alkoholister. Hon var hedersmedlem i spansk-nordiska s\u00e4llskapet AHN d\u00e4r hon startade AHN Omsorg och i Sveriges Pension\u00e4rsf\u00f6rening, avdelning Solkusten.<\/p>\n<p>Teamet Birgit Lilja och maken Olle medverkade under flera \u00e5r med v\u00e4lskrivna texter i Svenska Magasinet. M\u00e5nga uppskattade hennes artikelserie om de svenska veteranerna p\u00e5 Solkusten som publicerades i b\u00f6rjan p\u00e5 2000-talet.<\/p>\n<p>Hon var ocks\u00e5 en av initiativtagarna till den krishanteringsgrupp som utarbetades i samband med den stora branden i Mijas Costa 2004. Hon f\u00f6ljde ocks\u00e5 utvecklingen kring seniorboende p\u00e5 Solkusten och hade en artikelserie om dessa i Svenska Magasinet under 2009.<\/p>\n<p>I mars 2011 ber\u00e4ttade Birgit Lilja i en intervju i Svenska Magasinet om hur h\u00e4lsan drastiskt hade f\u00f6rs\u00e4mrats. Pl\u00f6tsligt kom flera sjukdomar p\u00e5 l\u00f6pande band. Birgit fick en stroke som f\u00f6ljdes av dubbel lunginflammation. Hon k\u00e4mpade med h\u00f6gt blodtryck och diabetes och tog medicin f\u00f6r hj\u00e4rta och mage.<\/p>\n<p>Birgit och Olle var gifta i 51 \u00e5r.
