Anh\u00f6riga till de 148 fr\u00e5n provinsen som omkom i l\u00e4gren hade bjudits in och lade ned en krans. De allra flesta hamnade i koncentrationsl\u00e4ger efter att ha stridit p\u00e5 republikanska sidan i spanska inb\u00f6rdeskriget och sedan flytt till Frankrike och d\u00e4r gripits av tyskarna och deras marionettregering under ockupationen. Det \u00e4r konstn\u00e4ren Rafael Alvarado som har skapat skulpturen som inneh\u00e5ller namnet p\u00e5 alla offer, deras hemort samt d\u00f6dsdatum. Han har kallat det \u201dLjusskuggor\u201d och vill med det peka p\u00e5 vikten av minnets seger \u00f6ver gl\u00f6mskan.
