Junta de Andaluc\u00eda gick dock p\u00e5 kommunens linje om att brytning i omr\u00e5det El Romeral och Santa Amalia skulle inneb\u00e4ra milj\u00f6problem f\u00f6r de boende i n\u00e4romr\u00e5det. Kommunen s\u00e5g et hela dessutom som ett steg tillbaka d\u00e5 man \u00e4r inne i process f\u00f6r att avveckla och \u00e5terst\u00e4lla dagbrotten inom en sju\u00e5rsperiod. F\u00f6retagen har \u00e4ven gjort en liknande beg\u00e4ran om brytning p\u00e5 tre st\u00e4llen inom M\u00e1lagas kommun.
