Den skulle s\u00e4kerligen fungera som t\u00e4ndmekanism till den stora bomben, men n\u00e5got i mekanismen fungerade inte. Polisens bombexperter arbetade hela natten och kunde desarmera den helt vid 07.30 imorse. Bilen var fylld med mellan 80 och 100 kilo spr\u00e4ngmedel och hade st\u00e4llt till med omfattande skador. Bilen var en Ford Fiesta med falska registreringsskyltar. De r\u00e4tta tillh\u00f6r en bil av samma modell registrerad i Fuengirola p\u00e5 Costa del Sol.
