F\u00f6roreningarna ligger enligt rapporten p\u00e5 historiskt h\u00f6ga niv\u00e5er och uppm\u00e4ter 1,9 miljoner fragment per kubikmeter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c4ven om vattnet ser klart ut kan det vara farligt f\u00f6r h\u00e4lsan och enligt WWF kan det vara skadligt att \u00e4ta fisk och skaldjur fr\u00e5n medelhavet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">22 olika l\u00e4nder har kust mot Medelhavet och alla har v\u00e4ldigt varierande milj\u00f6regler och standarder. Egypten sl\u00e4pper ut mest f\u00f6roreningar i havet med omkring 250 000 ton plast varje \u00e5r. D\u00e4refter kommer Tunisien och Italien.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Utsl\u00e4ppen p\u00e5verkar det marina livet i havet. \u00c4ven om Medelhavet endast utg\u00f6r 0,7 procent av planetens totala havsyta s\u00e5 bor 7,5 procent av v\u00e4rldens vattenlevande djur d\u00e4r. \u00c4ven 18 procent av jordens marina flora finns i Medelhavet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c4ven fisket p\u00e5verkas negativt. 180 000 m\u00e4nniskor arbetar inom fiskeindustrin i Medelhavet och den oms\u00e4tter omkring 5 miljarder euro. Enligt uppgifter fr\u00e5n FN har f\u00e5ngsten minskat med 34 procent sedan 1974.
