En man fr\u00e5n Alicanteprovinsen som bes\u00f6kte Etiopien i juli ifjol och blev biten av en hund har avlidit i rabies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sjukdomen bekr\u00e4ftades 29 maj och sedan dess har mannen v\u00e5rdats p\u00e5 intensivv\u00e5rdsavdelning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dagstidningen ABC<\/a> h\u00e4nvisar till regionala sjukv\u00e5rdsk\u00e4llor som s\u00e4ger att den 44-\u00e5rige mannen har avlidit. Mannen isolerades och v\u00e5rdades f\u00f6rst p\u00e5 sjukhuset Hospital Virgen de los Lirios i Alcoy (Alicante) innan han \u00f6verf\u00f6rdes till sjukhuset Hospital la Fe i Valencia.<\/p>\n

Mannen blev biten i h\u00f6ger ben och \u00e5terh\u00e4mtade sig efter sjukhusv\u00e5rd i Etiopien. Han s\u00f6kte inte l\u00e4kare vid ankomsten till Spanien.<\/p>\n

B\u00e5de mannen och frun, den andra personen som uppges vara i riskzonen, har f\u00e5tt rabiesvaccin och immunglobulin, enligt sjukhusk\u00e4llor.<\/p>\n

Rabiesfritt<\/h2>\n

Sedan 1978 bed\u00f6ms Spanien som rabiesfritt enligt V\u00e4rldsorganisationen f\u00f6r djurh\u00e4lsa. Detta anses vara det f\u00f6rsta fallet sedan dess \u00e4ven om n\u00e5gra rabiessmittade djur fr\u00e5n andra l\u00e4nder har identifierats.<\/p>\n

Det senaste fallet intr\u00e4ffade 2012 men d\u00e5 rapporterades ingen smittspridning i samband med att djur uppt\u00e4cktes b\u00e4ra smittan.<\/p>\n

H\u00e4lsov\u00e5rdsmyndigheterna utesluter dock inte rabiesfall med smittade personer som \u00e5terv\u00e4nder till Spanien fr\u00e5n l\u00e4nder eller territorier d\u00e4r rabiesviruset cirkulerar.<\/p>\n

Valenciaregionens h\u00e4lsor\u00e5d, Marciano G\u00f3mez, s\u00e4ger att rabies endast behandlas i samband med bett och i undantagsfall efter kontakt med saliv eller s\u00e5r. G\u00f3mez vill lugna personer som \u00e4r oroade \u00f6ver rabies med att sjukdomen inte f\u00f6rekommer i Spanien.<\/p>\n

H\u00e4lsor\u00e5det uppmanar resen\u00e4rer att vaccinera sig mot infektionssjukdomar som gula febern, tyfus och hepatit samt mot rabies i samband med att de kommer i kontakt med djur med att utforska grottor med fladderm\u00f6ss eller ta hand om djur som gorillor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
