Det byggdes vid varvet Navantia i Ferrol (La Coru\u00f1a) och var klar den 10 mars 2008. Officiellt har det tillh\u00f6rt den spanska marinen sedan september 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Fartyget m\u00e4ter 231 meter och \u00e4r 32 meter p\u00e5 bredden. Beroende p\u00e5 flygplan kan den ta mellan 25 och 30 stridsflygplan. Fartyget kan hysa 1.500 passagerare varav 300 \u00e4r bes\u00e4ttningsm\u00e4n.<\/p>\n<p>Fartyget kan \u00e4ven agera vid humanit\u00e4ra uppdrag.
